Topic: Impact of changing drive letters (for external hard-disks) ?

First of all...awesome app! Thanks and I'm surely going to blog about this wonderful app once I am done testing it.

Here's something I wanted to ask...

I am planning to use the "portable" version on an external hard-disk to organize files/folders on that drive. Every time I hook up this drive to a new computer, it may be assigned different drive letters (depending upon the partitions on the computer). I was wondering if this will impact in any way the tagging.

For example, suppose my external drive is assigned "E:" on my personal machine and I tag a file under " E:\Music\*.* ". Once I have applied a tag, say "Music" to this folder, I was wondering if the application will work when I hook this drive to some other machine on which the disk might be assigned another drive letter, say "F:" ?

I hope I have articulated my problem. If not, please let me know if you want any clarifications.

PS: I was wondering if I might use relative pathnames using "..\" but the "Add Items" window only allows visual selection of files and folders, I am unable to edit the textual pathnames at all; perhaps letting users do that might solve the problem (if there IS a problem at all) ?

Keenly awaiting your response,
Thanks.

Re: Impact of changing drive letters (for external hard-disks) ?

Current version use absolute paths and if you want to use you hard drive with the different computers, you have to force using of the same drive letter (please see here: http://lunarfrog.com/support/topic52.html).

The new version, I am developing now, will support relative paths.

Thanks! The linked post helped; this temporary workaround will work for now and look forward to updates in the future!
